Fringe Episode 104 - Tombstones

      Email Post       10/01/2008 09:49:00 AM

Here are the tombstones from Fringe episode 104 - The Arrival. The first two are not very legible, but the third is of Casey Peretti 1962 - 1990, and the fourth is Robert Bishop August 21 1912, December 11, 1944. Robert, who died at the ripe old age of 32, can't be Walter's father, since Walter was born in 1946. So is he a relative, or is this just a hiding place?

actually, in the pilot episode Agent Dunham says that Walter Bishop was born in 1946 when she hands his file to Broyles. So unless this is a major production error, Robert can't be Walter's father (or even brother or grandfather for that matter). Uncle?

I did a google search and Casey Peretti was a character (a Doctor, I believe) on As the World Turns. He died in 1990.

Interesting...

The fourth tombstone looks like it reads: Robert Bishop was born Aug. 21, 1912... not 1921. That would make him 32 not 23? Anyone else see that?

AstroJones said...

I agree, it's definitely 1912, not 1921. Robert Bishop died at the age of 32.

Thank you for the confirmation AstroJones, I needed to know my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. I also recall when they came upon this tombstone, the guy said to Peter something like... "Too bad you never met him." Or something like that??

AstroJones said...

Yes, which I find a very odd thing to say. It seems to imply that Mosely had met him, which seems impossible.

Mandy said...

Yeah, it clearly said 1912 for his birth year.

And I was wondering why Mosely said that comment to Peter as well.

Maybe Robert Bishop was famous in his own right? Somehow Mosely knew about him?

Dennis said...

That's funny, because I originally put 32, but then I checked the math and it was wrong. I didn't realize I had put the wrong date, not the wrong age...

And why can't Robert be Walter's grandfather?

Dennis said...

Math?

Technically, it's possible, but it's a very tight timeline.

Robert was born in 1912. Let say the earliest he could have conceived a child was his 16th birthday in 1928. That would have made his child born in May of 1929. Then his kid would have also had to have conceived a child on his 16th birthday, which would have been May of 1945. Robert's grandchild then would have been born in February of 1946 - the year Walter was born.

AstroJones said...

Yeah, its not impossible, it just means that Walter's grandfather and father both had to have kids when they were 16 years old. That was much less common in the early 1900s. Not impossible, just seems unlikely.

Mandy said...

If the years were wrong for Walter's birthday, then it would be possible.

I know that my grandmother was born in 1912 and had my mother in 50s. (She was 40)

So, unless he was born in-vitro?

Dennis said...

According to Wikipedia, the first In-Vitro babies were born in 1978.

The top right reads:

In me[mo]ry of
S. Milcz[y]nski
1868-1917
H [M]ilczynski
1879-1995
S.U. Milcz[y]nski
1808-19##

the last one is either 1933 or 1988...

I also noticed the tombstone with the letters missing. So all the letters are "M,O,Y,M,Y". they almost spell the word "mommy", anyone else find that odd? And I'm not too sure on what the date is supposed to be. I'm wondering why you think it would be 1933 though? That would make him/her over 110 years old when they died, which is absurd. Also, on the stone the first name is just "S." while the last name is "S.U." which is odd because if he died first then he should have the shorter abreviation.

You never know with this show, they may have lived 110 years...

Heck, for all we know Walter is an experiment and we may find out that Robert was partners with the people that founded Massive Dynamics.

The first tombstone was for three people whose surname is Milozynski. At ancestry.com one person by that name came to America in 1890 from Preussen.

I read an interesting blog regarding the Tomb Stone of 'Casey Peretti' and a verifiable 'clue' as to what the reference was.
"Casey Peretti is a stuntman who is also an amputee. He worked with JJ Abrams on an episode of 'Alias' called "Page 47". So this could be an in-joke shout-out to a former associate." -
Read about it here:Casey Peretti Info

Just thought I'd share that.

In scenemaker4 on Fox on Fringe the Rogue said that they were at the grave of Walter's father.

Ok, here's a crazy thought... It probably doesn't make much sense, but it just occurred to me so here goes. What if Peter is a clone of Robert created by Walter? This is why it's "too bad" Peter never met him, why Walter comments on Peter's eyes being green rather than blue (perhaps Robert's eyes were blue) and suggests that Peter might have hypertension (perhaps that contributed to Robert's death). This also makes it significant that Peter calls Walter by his first name rather than "Dad."

Anyone else notice that the guy with the gun had the same three green dot one red dot pattern on his touque that was on the canoe in the dream sequence

Dennis said...

Yes, there is a post here about that:

The theory that there is time travel involved in all of this keeps popping up on different forums. I've also heard that Peter is a clone of Walter that has had some upgrades (hence, him being smarter).

If any of you have read Rant by Chuck Palahniuk, you have seen these two theories put together. The antagonist travels back in time and rapes his mom, grandma, and greatgrandma so that his genius genes will get stronger and stronger. The main character of the book ends up completely immune to snake and spider venom, and has insanely sensitive senses. This same idea could have been applied, but with testtube babies, not raping. The only doubt I have is that I don't think JJ Abrams would be this derivative.

Guys...the dates are 1812 and 1(unreadable)44 ...not 1912.

Maybe i'm wrong, but i'm passing the video thru several video softwares and effects (i'm a video editor) and there's nothing coming up besides it being 1812.

The 8 is also VERY weird as it looks more like an "infinite" vertical symbol rather than a proper 8.

Also there's quite something in the one i call the "MERY" tomb, go check it again ^_*

The name Dr Peretti, in The Dreamscape, was seen in Mark Young's notebook opposite MONARCH. Any relation to Casey Peretti? What do you think?
