Fringe Episode 106: Kayak Lapel Pin

      Email Post       10/22/2008 02:04:00 AM

The "A" pin David Esterbrook is wearing on his lapel bears a very striking resemblance to the "A" on the Kayak that Olivia sees in her Synaptic Transfer with Agent John Scott.

How the hell did someone pick this one up, from the Pilot 7 weeks ago on a piece of trivial image to the lapel of some dude.

I'm impressed!

Is it weird that the first thing I thought of was the Masons?

The A with the over-long center bar is usually representative of the Anarchy symbol, typically drawn in the middle of a circle.

Yeah I noticed it right away too ----- so I figure that since the Kayak belonged to Olivia's uncle, has the Aleph symbol on it, and Esterbrook has the Aleph and is tied to Intrepus, then Olivia's uncle is tied to Intrepus in her past. And they are all tied to the green/red dot group ---- whom the Observer might work for (since his binocs used in the arrival has the green/rd dot pattern.

So the question is, who is Olivia's uncle --- and also who is her father since she grew up with her step father?

nice catch... noticed the pin but missed the connection to the pilot... don't even remember symbols on that. So does that mean John Scott had that in his brain/memory?

http://www.massivedynamic.com/aerospace_and_transportation.php If you go to this part of the MD site, it tells you that ZENO has something to do with their transportation division. So, if the 'A' gives a connection from Oliva's uncle to intrepus, then the 'ZENO' reference would also tie him to MassiveDynamic, and the dots would connect him to the observer. So could her uncle be William Bell? Or better yet, could he be Olivia's biological father?

I'm really liking where this is going... we're starting to connect all the clues... interesting...

I don't think Bell is her uncle. She would know that as well as Broyles and probably Walter too. And yes, I think that means the kayak was in Johns memory. So John knew her uncle somehow, who is linked to intrepus, the Observer, and MD through the Aleph, green/red dots, and Zeno. Remember, John asked Olivia "why did they pick her" in the pilot. Cause he knew from the start.

Also, I think we are going to find out the Observer is William Bell (at least to a degree). Here is the reasoning:

We haven't seen Bell at all yet. We do know he worked with Walter on pretty much everything having to do with communicating with the concious mind of others and whatnot. I think what we are going to find out, is that Bell (and possibly Walter) figured out how to TRANSFER CONCIOUSNESS from one person to another.

Remember that Johns conciousness is now residual in Olivias brain, right? And remember also that PEter and Walter share a concious connection merely by being related, right? Well who else shares a strange connection with Walter and Peter ----- the Observer does. Remember Walter said that the Observer saved their lives in an accident and it "felt like he was in his head". The observer also knew what PEter was going to say before he said it, like he was linked to his mind. So, I think the Observer is housing part, if not all, of Willam Bells' conciousness ----- that's how he knows Walter and Peter so well.

I think we will also find that chip thing confiscated by Broyles and given to Nina is like a floppy disk for housing conciousness. My speculation is that Bell has "disappeared" because he's lodged his conciousness in multiple "observers", bouncing around time to manipulate something to his own end .....

I like the idea of it being the anarchy symbol. Because Olivia is part of the government which is what the "patterns" are trying to destroy. And the guy with the lapel was a lobbiest.

Similiar "A" lapel pins are worn by people around famous biologist and atheist Richard Dawkins...

Just a thought William Bell and Walter Bishop have the same initials.

Considering the nature of the show, the definition from symbols.com seems like it could be relevant:

"a sign said to mean disordered intellect or confused mental state."

I noticed that the A is also very similar to the iTunes application logo.

3 green dots, 1 red dot...ties in to the later episode with the 3 green lights, 1 red used to put people in a trance (I keep wondering if it would work on someone who is red/green color blind, though).
