Fringe Episode 109: Butterflies

      Email Post       11/26/2008 01:22:00 PM

Here are some of the butterfly screenshots from The Dreamscape.

The butterfly theme seems to be the link back to the Fringe butterfly symbol, with its bone wing structure. In the episode, the cuts to Mark Young went down to the bone.

Mark's co-worker Charlotte, who was running the presentation until Mark showed up late, can be seen wearing a butterfly pin. Is this what sparked the hallucination, or was it just his love of butterflies (and a little toad juice)?

Did nobody notice the Oceanic Airlines on the plan ticket? Thought that was amusing!

This episode immediately made me think of the "Earth: Final Conflict" episode where mechanical, razor-edged butterflies were harassing an Amish community.

As for the butterflies in this episode, there's a point where Mark Young holds up one of them; they are exactly the same variety as the "Fringe butterfly."

Hey, nice catch on the pin and triggering!

Wow, Romulusnr, good memory about "Earth: Final Conflict"! I liked that show, for the most part.

I noticed that pin right away since I was on the lookout for butterflies! LOL And that Oceanic Air ticket really jumped out at me! Cool nod to LOST!

Capcom: Glad I'm not the only one to remember that show :) And I also meant to mention that John Scott in Fringe looks an awful lot like Boone from E:FC. Not the same actor though, I checked.

might be a blooper... but the 2 butterfly casings switch sides after the are done shaking.

Your right the butterfly cases do switch sides

Interesting!

Why did Dunham see the butterflies fluttering, was it due to her recent altered state experiences (most likely), or did she get adrift of some of the frog-juice in the vic's apartment somehow?

i sent mark young an email.. they showed it on a buisness card during the episode. this is what i got in return..

yo that email thing is pretty sick, just the fact that they actually knew ppl would email it

That's so cool about the e-mail. Anybody try the same format for Nina Sharp?? LOL... Anyway also on the business card they listed the 800 number for massive dynamic and when I called this type they've changed their message to a "Happy Holidays" thing. I just thought that was interesting. See ya, I'm going to try and e-mail Nina now... haha

Anyone else think the type of butterflies (or more importantly what colors) used might have something to do with everything. I'm not an entymologist, so I don't know exactly what types they used but each board has the exact same butterflies, but in different order. The one that moves is the large yellow one in the screen shot. Anyone know the genus and species of this butterfly?

Interesting thing is, a German Fringe ARG makes some references to Mark Young.
